Maryam Tours & Safaris was founded by Maryam, a Zanzibar hospitality professional with over 10 years of experience in the tourism industry and a deep connection to the island she calls home.
Throughout her years in hospitality, Maryam witnessed both the beauty of Zanzibar and an important gap within its tourism industry the limited opportunities for women to actively participate as professional guides and tourism leaders, while many female travellers were looking for safe, authentic, and welcoming experiences.
She decided to turn that challenge into an opportunity.
Maryam Tours & Safaris was created with a vision to connect travellers with the real Zanzibar while creating meaningful opportunities for local women.
Today, Maryam is building a growing team of talented young women who are passionate about their home, hospitality, culture, and languages. Through tourism, our goal is to empower women, create employment opportunities, and show the world Zanzibar through a local woman’s perspective.
